Art Tatum — Louise

Thanks to Universal Music for the You Tube.

Louise was a Leo Robin and Richard Whiting song most famously associated with the French actor Maurice Chevalier. It was a hit record for Chevalier for 10 weeks in 1929. In Art Tatum’s version, Louise starts out as a grown woman, then becomes a little girl with a room full of dolls, then alternates back and forth with the grown woman. Musically speaking, of course. Music from this You Tube is from Art Tatum’s Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces Disc One track 15.

About Richard Rollo

I am a retired Community College Instructor. I taught Political Science 1 American Government for 22 years in Southern California. I am originally from Northern Minnesota. My earliest years were spent in the living quarters of a rural Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific Railway Depot. Then my family joined the great 1950's migration to Southern California where I joined up with fellow baby boomers in overcrowded schools.
