Fats on Friday — Black Raspberry Jam

This Fats Waller record is listed by his son Maurice under a set titled Swingopation, recorded in April 8,1936 with Herman Autrey, trumpet; Gene Sedric, reeds; Al Casey, guitar; Charles Turner, bass; Yank Porter, drums; and Fats, piano and vocal. Chuck Cecil liked this record and played it on Swingin’ Years this past year. This was on one of my very first Fats Waller RCA reissue LPs. Fats really lets loose in his piano solo here.

I am a retired Community College Instructor. I taught Political Science 1 American Government for 22 years in Southern California. I am originally from Northern Minnesota. My earliest years were spent in the living quarters of a rural Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific Railway Depot.
