Art Tatum – I’ve Got The World On A String

I’ve Got The World On A String  is from the Norman Granz Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces Vol. 2, The song was written by Arlen and Koehler. This song was very popular, and has a great lyric. I associate this song with Frank Sinatra.  Art Tatum recorded this in the Bop era and works some of those harmonies into this big swing era melody. People often remark on Tatum’s runs up and down the piano and those runs are amazing, but I’m more amazed at how he uses his left hand in the bass clef.  He was amazing.
