We made it, asteroid TB145 did not crash into Earth, but then those tracking it said there was no chance of that. NASA-JPL now suggests that this asteroid is a dead comet, meaning the fire has burned out. The picture of it looks like a human skull.
Well, I wouldn’t blame you if you found it hard to believe that on Halloween, an asteroid or dead comet that looks like a human skull nearly crashed into Earth. It does sound pretty far fetched. But, I’ll leave that for you to decide. Anyway, here is the photo from the telescope in Hawaii.

EarthSky reported yesterday and last week about a Halloween asteroid, named TB145 that would safely pass closest by the earth on Halloween, today, at 11:00 AM PDT. TB145 is 1300 feet wide, which would make it 28 times larger than the meteor that struck near Chelyabinsk, Russia. The Chelyabinsk meteor did widespread damage and sent 1500 people for emergency medical treatment.

Thanks to Eddie Irizarry, and EarthSky. Also Thanks to NASA/JPL for the graphic.
Four years ago, I finished Maki and the Bolide, a book I had been working on for a few years about what might happened if a huge asteroid hit the earth. Once an asteroid hits the earth it becomes a bolide, thus Maki and the Bolide.
