Happy 4th of July, we need to remember why we celebrate it.

We need to put the Independence back into Independence Day.  We have many problems.  I don’t feel either free or represented at any level of government any more.  The core responsibilities of government are not being met by our government, while they are off in a world of their own chasing expensive delusions of power.    Our President, our Congress, and our judges ignore our Constitution or read into it things that were never there.  Our lives have become congested by busy body bureaucrats who haven’t been elected by anyone but who act like our lords and masters. Our President, our Congress, and candidates for public office  spend most of their time chasing more and more money for themselves, but all the money in the world won’t help anyone who has no courage, intelligence, integrity, character, or honesty.  Our news media, which was once the envy of much of the world, is now a freak show filled with cronyism, favoritism, bias, ignorance, and incompetence.  But, we can still change all of this if we want.  Benjamin Franklin at the end of the Constitutional Convention said that they had created “…a Republic, if you can keep it.”  We need to think of ways on this day of reinvigorating our Republic.   Happy 4th of July.
