Joel Kotkin: Tell us what you really think about California’s future.

I’ve been a long time reader of Joel Kotkin and subscriber to his Newgeography.com website.  He says, “California has met the future and it really doesn’t work.”  He especially blames Gov. Jerry Brown; reserving him for special criticism.  Kotkin thinks that a good part of Jerry Brown’s problem is psychological; that he despises both his father, Governor Pat Brown, and his legacy.  Kotkin thinks it’s a drama like the ancient Greek drama  Oedipus Rex. in which the son is motivated by hatred of his father to kill him.

Well, I won’t go any further in trying to summarize this incredibly angry article.  Read it for yourself.  Remember as well, that Kotkin still considers himself a Democrat.

Long ago when I was active in politics, I met Jerry Brown.  I was not impressed.  I thought, if this man’s name was Edmund G. Green, Jr., he wouldn’t go anywhere.  But, I was wrong.  Name recognition is a big deal in American politics.  Eventually the voters caught on to him, as they are about to again.

I’ll have more to say about the California drought in later posts.  Meanwhile, I suspect this will be the most discussed article on California government for awhile.
